Who we are.

KIC Engineering Services, located in Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, provides pressure vessel services for DOT cargo tanks, above ground stationary storage tanks, and other mechanical engineering and CAD services. KIC Engineering Services is registered with the Department of Transportation as being a Design Certifying Engineering (DCE) Company and can provide DCE engineering services when necessary. We are also experts in ASME pressure vessels and specialize in fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) as well as steel and aluminum pressure vessels. We base our design methods on ASME VIII, X or RTP-1 and follow practices from ASME II, V, and IX for material, welding, and examination specifications as well as ASME Y14.5 for drafting and documentation standards. We offer onsite training for cargo tank test and repair facilities. We also offer R-stamp review preparation and quality control training and documentation needed for a successful review. Meet your Engineer

Jason Kennedy

Jason Kennedy, P.E. - President/ Senior Design Engineer

Jason earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Portland and his Masters of Business Administration from Portland State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Oregon as well as other states. Jason worked for a large cargo tank motor vehicle manufacturer as a design engineer and assisted several cargo tank maintenance facilities with design and compliance services before founding KIC Engineering Services in 2011. He is also an expert in pressure vessel design, Finite Element Analysis, 3D modeling, and drafting as well and many design and material codes and specifications. In his free time Jason enjoys fishing, skiing, hiking, and working on his Land Cruiser. He’s an active volunteer for Portland Ducks Unlimited and a professional adviser for University of Portland senior design projects.
